Alexandra Smith
core contributorAlexandra Smith (Director/Developer) has been a Core Collaborator on The Big Times Project since October 2019. She is a multi-hyphenate theatre artist and educator, with primary focuses in directing and producing. Directing credits include Extremities and A Good Death (Also Known As Theatre), Anon(ymous) (Hartford Stage Education), and Danny and the Deep Blue Sea (Emerson College), many semi-devised productions with high school students, and developmental workshops of new plays. Assistant Directing credits include productions with the Women’s Theatre Festival, Huntington Theatre Company, and Wheelock Family Theatre. Festival projects include multiple years of the Boston One-Minute Play Festival at Boston Playwrights Theatre, Open Theatre Project’s SLAM Boston: Diverse Voices In Theatre, and Shotz Boston. In the realm of virtual theatre, Alex has directed three episodes of The Big Times Project’s fall 2020 Facebook Live readings series, and productions of short plays in Third Citizen Theatre Company’s “Digital Dionysia” festival and the annual Playwright’s Platform festival. Alex has also worked as an artistic consultant for Deana’s Educational Theater, where she develops and directs virtual adaptations of their programming. She is a Company Member at Open Theatre Project, where she also serves as Plays In Progress Producer, and a board member of the Theatre Community Benevolent Fund.
